Katie’s Komments: November 2023

We are all very familiar with the ups & downs of the current real estate market, but with Thanksgiving soon upon us and in the spirit of the season, let’s shift our mindset to gratitude. What are we grateful for? We are grateful for the gift of time that this market has given sellers! So…those of you itching to sell, but want to wait to see some shifts in the market now have some time to properly and thoughtfully prepare your home to sell. You can start by addressing the following:
**freshen up and lighten paint colors — neutral is best for selling your home, stick with a lighter shade of beige or greige. The trend is leaning a little warmer than the recent grays that we’ve been seeing. One color throughout is recommended for a cohesive, seamless flow.
**update light fixtures — the quickest and most effective way to present an updated look.
**declutter — remove any unnecessary extra furniture from rooms. We all have it, but we don’t need it! Create the feeling of space by staying minimal with your furniture and accessories. “Less is more” when it comes to presenting your home in real estate photos.
**depersonalize — we say it all time: “Clients want to see their home, not yours.” This is everything! Pack up all personalized photos and wall decor. Keep things neutral so that the buyers can envision themselves in the space that you are selling.
**address any exterior imperfections such as rotting trim, chipping paint, overgrown landscaping…you only get one chance to make a first impression.
If you have decided to wait it out before you sell, use this time to take some crucial steps to prepare your house for the competition next year. You will be oh-so grateful that you did. The spring market is right around the corner. I know we will be ready, and now, so will you!
