West Chicago is a suburb of Chicago, located in DuPage County. Spanning over 15 sq miles, West Chicago has a population of almost 27,000 residents.
This city is family-oriented with great schools. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. The public high school is West Chicago Community High School and the private high school is Wheaton Academy. There are a number of colleges and universities for students to choose from within a 10-mile radius of West Chicago.
West Chicago is the first Illinois community established by the railroads and continues to be a convenient transportation hub as it is served by three major rail lines, a general aviation airport and three state highways. West Chicago roughly 30 miles straight west of the city of Chicago and is a stop on Metra’s Union Pacific West Line, which provides a quick commute to Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center. The DuPage Airport is also located in West Chicago and for those that need regional, national and international travel, Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway International airports are just about 45 miles away.
There is plenty of opportunities for outside recreation with more than 390 acres of parkland, 305 acre forest preserve, athletic fields, golf courses and Turtle Splash Family Aquatic Center.
